You Make Me Feel So Young
March promises to bring on better weather, spring’s first flowers (and allergy season in the south, but I’m not complaining - yet), and my husband of 33 years, birthday!
This year’s big day was a significant one that he had mixed emotions about.”NO party” was requested and granted! The following day, he announced that from this big day forward to future birthdays he will be celebrating a “birthday week” filled with dinners at his favorite restaurants, rides on the Harley, and good bourbon with toasts to the future! Cheers to that!
I have celebrated Barry’s birthday for years with a map, marked address’ and times written in a card. He never knows where we are going, but looks forward to the evening unravelling. I take him to places he’s never been. 3 stops for a complete meal, appetizers, dinner then dessert, all in, new to us restaurants. I have every bit as much fun as he does, maybe more, as I love planning out this day for him!
This year we combined all 3 stops into 1. His day was a work day for him, and my dinner plan was a little out of town, so we made concessions and had a wonderful meal with views of the Tennessee river and Lookout Mountain. We toasted to the new birthday week and talked about all the cute dogs he saw at work and upcoming candle scents that I’m trying to name. Just keeping it real, we are old, our kids are grown and we have spent 36 of his birthdays together. It’s dinner conversation.
We ended the night, listening to Sinatra while opening his gift of a bottle of rare bourbon, and our itinerary to a Kentucky birthday trip, I planned for him. He will get to go behind the scenes of Churchill Downs for a day, and do a little distillery hopping along the great bourbon trail. Experiences have been our go to gifts as the years have gone by. We don’t need anything really, so we do trips more often, for memories that will last us our lifetime!
Birthdays and candles go hand in hand. Light a scrumptious spring candle, make a wish, but don’t blow it out till the wax melts to the edge! LOL Happy spring y’all!
Cheers! -Angie
You make me feel so young
You make me feel so spring has sprung
And every time I see you grin
I’m such a happy individual
