Easter Brunch Details

Growing up, Easter Sunday was such celebration in my family. New dress and shoes, dying Easter eggs, pulling out the good china and setting the table for an amazing southern brunch. I can hear my Mama still singing “He Lives” from the Easter church service, as she whips meringue, to top banana pudding. My, how I would love to relive those days!

The feeling of a fresh start that poured from every fiber of her faithful heart, was a sight to behold! She loved her some Jesus in a way that would make you fall to your knees and ask for the light to shine in you the way it did in her. I could skip the feast that she prepared and just watch her sing and fuss over all the details. Some people wish to fill their bellies on Easter, but this tradition filled my soul. What a glorious day!

Her 4 sisters would arrive one by one and then the real anticipation began. I knew if they all sang together, I would be in for a treat! I waited for it, for them to share this gift of harmony. I sat back and admired the chills that would shoot up and down my spine as they sang praises to God! Just a bunch of women, total opposites, bonded by their voices and love of Jesus!

Easter Brunch was a such a special feeling for me! I was an observant little girl who knew she was an old soul. The feeling of holding the depression glass serving pieces was familiar and wonderful. I loved setting the table with flowers and candles and making sure each place setting was correct! I remember when I was old enough to light the candles, what an honor it was to be able to add the final touch. Wow, who knew one day I would have a career out of making and lighting candles!

Details are the particular parts of making an ordinary thing, into something special. They are what turned our typical Easter Sunday Brunches, into something spectacular for me! Attention to the small things and making a habit of tending to the details is something we can all work on from time to time. Whether it’s celebrating special occasions, turning an everyday meal into a gourmet dinner, raising your children to be respectful instead of letting them run the household, or paying attention to your spouse with love and communication, it’s all in the details!

God blessed each of us with detailed gifts that he intended us to use in this life. He gave us the Bible full of details on how to live, and sent His son here to die for our sins. I look at the world around me and I can not imagine a world without his attention to detail.

This Easter I want to honor my Mama in Heaven, along with her sisters, by choosing to pay better attention to the details in my life. I want my kids to see me the way I saw their MeMaw. I look forward to creating wonderful memories of a life well lived. I strive to curate amazing fragrances to bring special moments to the Beaumont Candle community.

Open the special bottle of wine, fill the vase with lovely flowers and light the candle! Don’t save it for a day that might be “special” enough for it! Each day God gave us is special, because HE LIVES!

                                              Cheers, Angie
